From June 28-30, 2018, Huayang Chemical conducted a three-day emergency response competition. Twenty-one employees representing three production teams competed for the “Best Emergency Response Team” award in leak handling, while forty employees participated in the individual competition for “Emergency Equipment Operation Excellence”. After intense competition, Wang Hong’s team emerged as the winner of the team award, and Xiong Ying along with fifteen other employees received individual honors.
The competition received high praise from both management and employees throughout the company. Participants unanimously agreed that the event was practical and effective, with several notable highlights: First, the team leaders demonstrated excellent organizational skills. The three production team leaders carefully designed emergency response drills based on a simulated leak scenario at the BP-4 workshop’s chlorosulfonic acid distillation unit. The drills covered the entire emergency response process from incident occurrence, abnormal situation reporting, personal safety protection, safe transfer of hazardous chemicals, to complete hazard elimination, all conducted in an orderly manner. Second, all participating employees performed with great seriousness. From initial hazardous chemical containment to proper use of protective equipment and emergency devices, and correct operation of all equipment, every action was executed meticulously. Third, the judges maintained strict evaluation standards. The assessment process remained fair and impartial throughout, from checking proper wearing of protective gear to evaluating correct equipment operation and effective use of emergency devices.
It’s worth noting that this emergency response competition was conducted during an exceptionally busy production period for the company. Adhering to the principle of “putting life first and ensuring safe development”, the senior leadership emphasized that even during peak production times, it is essential to enhance the company’s overall risk response capabilities, raise employees’ safety awareness, and comprehensively improve the emergency response skills of both frontline managers and staff, thereby ensuring the safety of lives and property for both the company and its employees.
