On March 21, 2019, a delegation from Huayang Chemical, led by General Manager Xu Minghua and including Chief Engineer Zhao Dingchun, Deputy General Manager Yang Ming, and R&D personnel, visited the College of Biology and Pharmacy at China Three Gorges University (CTGU) to explore collaborative opportunities.

The delegation was received by Vice President Zou Kun of CTGU, with Dean Yang Changying organizing a symposium attended by key faculty members from the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering disciplines.

Dean Yang outlined the college’s organizational structure and affirmed the existing strong collaboration foundation with Huayang Chemical, sharing CTGU’s experience in results-oriented university-industry partnerships.

During the discussion, GM Xu first expressed gratitude for the college’s substantial contributions over the years in technical problem-solving and product testing. He introduced Huayang’s current UV absorber product portfolio, which has formed three major series - benzophenones, salicylates and triazines - with an annual production capacity reaching 2,500-3,000 tons. Xu emphasized that during this critical period of relocation and transformation, the company urgently needs to intensify R&D efforts for new processes and products to achieve green and high-quality production, and looks forward to strengthening joint R&D with the university to support enterprise upgrading.

Subsequently, both parties exchanged views on potential cooperation areas and mechanisms. Vice Dean Dr. Deng Zhangshuang proposed adopting team collaboration and technology equity participation models to stimulate innovation based on Huayang’s technical needs, while enhancing project communication through improved college management. Both sides agreed that during cooperation, the college’s advantages in information collection during project evaluation should be fully utilized alongside the enterprise’s strengths in market intelligence and cost control. They identified the co-establishment of a provincial-level UV Absorber Engineering Center as a key priority for the year to jointly enhance their academic and market positions in the UV absorber field.
